Zinc+Pvc Coated Gabion Box / plastic coated gabions for erosion control
Gabions are structural units consisting of soft annealed, heavily galvanized wire frame container, made by double twisted hexagonal wire mesh with uniform partitioned, of variable size and filled with stones at the site of use, to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls, sea walls, channel linings, revetments, weirs, etc, for erosion and flood control. Gabion boxes are formed from panels of double twisted mesh which are framed by thicker selvedge wires. End panels and diaphragms are normally at 1 meter centers. The double twist weaving of the mesh prevents unraveling. The gabion units are supplied with appropriate lacing wire for assembly and erection.

Gabions should be positioned as required and adjacent units connected. Once in position, gabion units should be stretched taught to provide a neat straight alignment and where a high standard of rock facing is required to the gabions, additional formwork may be used on the face of the cage to provide an even straighter, neater finish.
The lid of the gabion that remains open during the filling process should be folded back out of the way whilst filling.
Rock should them be machine placed into the gabion unit to about one third height of a typical 1m high cage. Laborers should then hand position the rock against the front face of the cage to ensure a neat, tightly packed finish.
Lastly, the gabion lid is pulled over into position on top of the rock and is laced closed to the perimeter of the gabion cage and to each of the vertical partitions/diaphragms within the gabion cage.

Strength and flexibility
rock-mattresses, and rock fall netting are constructed from double-twist hexagonal woven mesh. This provides inherent strength and flexibility. Also, if a wire is cut or broken the mesh cannot "unravel".
Gabion and rock-mattress structures are porous to prevent build up of hydrostatic pressure and are able to withstand differential settlement.
